Bring your game files
Use your own SoulSilver USA revision 0 ROM plus at least one supported game: FireRed USA revision 0 (1.0), Emerald USA, or the exact supported Liquid Crystal build. SoulSilver supplies follower artwork; it is not a playable region in Kolo. Kolo does not provide base game ROMs or links to obtain them.
Prepare Johto from FireRed
Import FireRed USA 1.0 and Kolo automatically creates the supported Liquid Crystal 3.3.00512 game using the included patch. Your original FireRed and saves are kept. If FireRed was imported before this update, open Manage Game Files and choose Create Liquid Crystal from FireRed. You can also import an already supported Liquid Crystal file.
Kolo checks supported ROM identities during import. A differently patched Liquid Crystal file or another FireRed revision may not work. Import the destination game before taking its region ferry; characters select a starting region and travel between regions in-game.
iPhone & iPad
Install the iOS beta through AltStore Classic. It requires a Mac or Windows computer for the initial setup and periodic app refreshes.
- Set up AltStore using its official instructions.
- Download the current Kolo IPA and install it through AltStore.
- Import your files in Kolo, sign in, and select a character.
Android
The Android beta is available as an APK on the Download page.
- Download the current Kolo APK.
- Allow installation from the browser or file manager you use, if Android asks.
- Import your files in Kolo, sign in, and select a character.
Keep Play Protect enabled. Contact support if Android blocks the build or reports a security problem.
Before updating
Return to character selection and let saving and synchronization finish. Update the existing app rather than uninstalling it; uninstalling can remove imported files and local data.
